One of the things you should definitely do while on vacation in Albufeira is take a walk through its historic city center. Here you can observe the Arab past of this town, and the Castillo del Mar (Castle by the Sea).

Albufeira´s streets still hold the aromas of its Arabic past. The roads are narrow and winding, with white jazmin perfuming the air all around you, mixing with the salt air of the sea. In its day, this Arab fortress was the most important in Southern Portugal.
